how I ended up creating a practitioner training, even though that was definitely not the thing I thought I’d do when I grew up.

And it’s really a story about following the breadcrumbs of your work and letting your purpose unfold in ways that you could have never predicted.

And that nervous part of me, that scared part of me, honestly, it wanted me to hide and to not do this episode at all.

And let’s start here.

There are a lot of trainings out there.

are a lot of certifications, advanced certifications, modality trainings, and many of them are wonderful and valuable.

And yet,

I hear from practitioners constantly who say things like, I’ve done trainings, but I still don’t feel confident.

Or I can take my clients far, but not far enough to really co-create the change that they want.

Sometimes I hear from practitioners, I’m good when things are going well with a client,

But when things get tough or tense, I get really anxious and I don’t know what to say.

Sometimes I hear from practitioners, I’m scared to market myself and do outreach because my clients aren’t renewing or sending referrals.

They’re not valuing the work, and so I don’t know if I should put it out there.

Also, I hear the following a lot from people when they first come to me.

They share with me about this scenario.

Maybe you know it.

A client is sitting in front of you and they’re stuck in fear or resistance or self-sabotage or deep shame.

And you, as the practitioner, you can feel in every fiber of your being,

that there is more there.
00:09:31 Joanna Lindenbaum
You can sense the deeper truth underneath.

You can feel that a breakthrough really wants to happen.

You can feel that your client’s nervous system could shift, but you just can’t quite take them there.

It’s like you can take them far,

just not far enough.

One of the reasons Sacred Depths exists is for you to learn how to take your clients farther.

And the truth is that we’ve always needed this.

But now, in 2026, we need this more than ever.

Our clients and our clients to be are carrying more fear, more anxiety, more overwhelm, more nervous system dysregulation.

They are bombarded constantly with media and crisis and uncertainty.

And on top of all of that, or I guess you could say related to all of that,

we’re all also living in what many people are calling a trust recession.

That means that the level of safety and presence that people need in order to hire you, and then in order to truly open up and change, it’s much higher than it used to be.

There is no doubt in my mind that the world truly, truly needs transformational practitioners, real ones, extraordinary ones.

We need practitioners who know how to go deeper.

We need practitioners
00:11:47 Joanna Lindenbaum
who have the capacity to hold safe space and vulnerable space.

We need practitioners who know how to work somatically with fear and with resistance and with shadow.

And this is what Sacred Depths is all about.

But before we go any further,

I want to kind of roll it back for a moment.

And I want to share with you what originally led me to create Sacred Depths.

Because I will tell you, when I was a little girl, I did not think that this would end up being my sacred purpose.

And even when I started coaching, I definitely did not set out
00:12:46 Joanna Lindenbaum
to train coaches, therapists, and transformational practitioners.
00:12:51 Joanna Lindenbaum
Sacred Depths actually happened in a kind of magical, serendipitous, and very organic way, step by step over the course of my career.

So to tell the story, we kind of first have to go back to the very beginning of my work.

When I first left the art world, some of you might know I had a master’s in art history, but when I first started doing this transformational work, I started off as a ritualist and as a facilitator of women’s circles.

I learned a lot about ritual and about archetypal energy and about Jungian shadow and about containers.
00:13:43 Joanna Lindenbaum
And I just, I loved the work.
00:13:45 Joanna Lindenbaum
I loved all of it so much.
00:13:47 Joanna Lindenbaum
And over a couple of years, this goes back already over 25 years ago, but over a couple of years of leading women’s circles and women’s rituals, I also realized that I wanted one-on-one skills to work with clients.

And I got certified as a coach.
00:14:09 Joanna Lindenbaum
I learned different transformational skills.
00:14:13 Joanna Lindenbaum
And I started working with clients one-on-one.
00:14:17 Joanna Lindenbaum
And what I noticed pretty quickly as I started working with clients one-on-one was that the coaching skills that I learned in my training, they were good.

They were good enough.
00:14:36 Joanna Lindenbaum
But
00:14:37 Joanna Lindenbaum
They didn’t help me at all when one of my clients showed up with fear, or one of my clients showed up with resistance, or if a client had persistent limiting beliefs, or if a shadow was lurking and holding a client back, or if a client was self-sabotaging.

And kind of being the transformation nerd that I am, I took this as an incredible challenge.

I rolled my sleeves up and I got to work.
00:15:14 Joanna Lindenbaum
And I got to work over years working with my clients and working with my clients and developing tried and true techniques to support them through fear, to support them through resistance, to support them through shadow.

et cetera, et cetera.
00:15:33 Joanna Lindenbaum
And my clients, they loved this work that we were doing together.
00:15:40 Joanna Lindenbaum
They were creating such incredible results because of the deep inner work that we were doing that eventually, one by one, many of them, not all of them, but many of them, started asking me

how I was building my business and if I could support them to do this work as well.

And even then, even though they were saying to me, Joanna, help me do this work, I didn’t even realize that I was stepping into training yet.

I really didn’t.
00:16:16 Joanna Lindenbaum
I thought I was stepping into business coaching.
00:16:20 Joanna Lindenbaum
And so for a number of years, I considered myself a business coach.

I continued to lead clients through the deep inner work, all of the fears, all of the resistances, et cetera, et cetera, all of the leadership work, while also supporting them in their marketing strategy and their business strategy and their business plans.

And my clients, these clients that I was helping with business,

They were incredibly successful.

They had clients who would renew with them over and over.

They had clients who would refer to them over and over.
00:17:13 Joanna Lindenbaum
Their reputations grew.
00:17:16 Joanna Lindenbaum
And one day it just hit me over the head.

It was such a light bulb moment.
00:17:24 Joanna Lindenbaum
Because I was thinking, why is it that my clients are so successful in business, so much more successful than so many other of the practitioners out there?

And it hit me.

It wasn’t really because of the marketing that I was teaching them or coaching them on or the strategy that we were working on together.

Yes, of course, some of the marketing strategy had to do with it for sure.

But really why my clients were successful in business was a combination of A, the deep inner work that we were doing, and B, they were emulating the transformational processes that I was doing with them in their own client work.

And because of that, their clients

were co-creating incredible results.
00:18:19 Joanna Lindenbaum
And that is how their businesses were growing.

It was because they were extraordinary practitioners through my modeling.

And this is how Sacred Depths was born.

Because when I had that light bulb moment, everything changed.

I realized all along, all along from the very beginning,

I had been training practitioners to go deeper, to do more effective work, to hold deep space.

And that’s when the first version of Sacred Depths was born, which by the way, now it’s a 10-month program, but the first version, I was still a little tentative.

It was just a six-week quickie training.

And then the rest is kind of history.

It evolved from there to what it is today.

A 10-month, no stone left unturned, high touch, full service training for highly seasoned practitioners, as well as new practitioners who know they are meant to do the deep work.

When your clients experience real and profound transformation, when they’re held by someone who truly knows how to create safe space, vulnerable space, and when they’re held by someone who really knows how to lead them through all of their obstacles,

They stay with you longer.

They renew again and again.

They tell everyone they know about the work.

They share about you on social media and about how incredible you are, how you were the one that helped them.

And when all of that happens because of your extraordinary work, not only is that the most powerful marketing strategy imaginable, it also increases your confidence.

And when your confidence grows, you become much more willing to be visible, to market, to do outreach,

more open when clients express strong emotions.

And when you work on this first pillar of your energetics, your depth threshold, your capacity,

Every single time a coaching technique goes really well, goes exceptionally, every single time a coaching session goes really well,

It absolutely, absolutely starts with the practitioner’s energetics, capacity, and nervous system.

You do the techniques better when you are in a better place.

And it feels important to mention briefly that everything I’m sharing right now around energetics and capacity, this is also one of the places

where it helps you be more ethical and trauma-informed.

Now, inside of Sacred Depths, when we learn techniques and skills, we learn all of the ways to be trauma-informed inside of those skills, all of the ways to keep your clients safe.

And then of course, you need all these energetics for your business and your marketing as well, because if you’re scared of being seen or you’re scared of not being good enough, or you’re scared of other people’s anger, or your system is

often dysregulated, it then becomes very, very hard to market or market well.
