I’m Joanna Lindenbaum, a coach, ritualist, and all-around transformation nerd who is obsessed with helping clients go deep to create more change and results with their clients.
00:00:19 Speaker 1
I created the Coaching Revolution podcast to share with you coaching skills, tips, and advice, as well as a deeper understanding of human behavior and of yourself.
00:00:30 Speaker 1
so that you can do even better client work and group work, grow your business organically, and know that you’re making a real difference in the world.
00:00:41 Speaker 1
This is about creating a revolution in the transformational industry so that more practitioners feel amazing about what they do and so that more of our clients experience life-changing shifts.
00:00:55 Speaker 1
Let’s get started.
00:01:01 Speaker 1
Welcome back, my friend.
00:01:04 Speaker 1
I’m so glad that you’re here today because this is a big episode and I’m almost a little nervous for it.
00:01:13 Speaker 1
I’ve been sitting with something that’s been very monumental in my world and business for months now.
00:01:20 Speaker 1
And I’ve been doing a lot of behind the scenes planning for it.
00:01:25 Speaker 1
And I am finally, finally ready to tell you about it.
00:01:29 Speaker 1
It all has to do with my business model and particularly with my most popular offering, Sacred Depths, and how it’s shifting in some pretty big and exciting ways and in ways
00:01:43 Speaker 1
that are definitely making me sweat a little bit because if you know me, I am someone who has a tendency to fight change.
00:01:53 Speaker 1
I am a woman who likes her comfort and who doesn’t necessarily like to switch things up if they’re working.
00:02:01 Speaker 1
But it is time for change.
00:02:05 Speaker 1
I’ve felt it deep in my bones and it’s come from professional reasons and personal reasons.
00:02:12 Speaker 1
And also because I keep watching this industry and the people in it, they need something different than they used to need.
00:02:21 Speaker 1
And I wanna share all of this with you today so that A, you know more about what’s going on over here in my world
00:02:31 Speaker 1
And B, through my story, I am hoping that you’re going to get some tips and pointers and inspiration around what might be ready to change up in your own offerings, in your own business model, in your own marketing.
00:02:49 Speaker 1
Because today I’m really going to be pulling back the curtains on a lot of things.
00:02:56 Speaker 1
Now for those of you who don’t already know Sacred Depths or haven’t checked it out over the years, let me give you a little bit of context here.
00:03:07 Speaker 1
For many years, Sacred Depths has been the go-to place for coaches, therapists, and practitioners who have wanted to learn how to become more transformational in your work with clients and groups, how to co-create better results with your clients,
00:03:26 Speaker 1
to understand what’s happening underneath a client’s behavior, to work somatically and at depth, to navigate resistance and stuckness.
00:03:37 Speaker 1
And Sacred Depths has always been the place for practitioners to develop themselves.
00:03:45 Speaker 1
The ability to hold deep and vulnerable space, to show up in uncomfortable moments,
00:03:52 Speaker 1
to work with your own fears of visibility, of being a fraud, and so much more, so that you can hold more in your sessions and in your marketing and business.
00:04:07 Speaker 1
Now, on the one hand, Sacred Depths has very much stayed the same as when I first created it so many years ago.
00:04:17 Speaker 1
On the other hand, of course, as the latest
00:04:21 Speaker 1
Neuroscience and trauma research has evolved over the years.
00:04:26 Speaker 1
And as I’ve evolved as a practitioner, an entrepreneur, and as a human, I’ve added and changed some pieces to the curriculum.
00:04:36 Speaker 1
Sacred Depths, it kind of feels like my baby.
00:04:40 Speaker 1
I’ve got two daughters in real life, and Sacred Depths is kind of like the other daughter.
00:04:46 Speaker 1
It’s the culmination of
00:04:48 Speaker 1
25 years of wisdom, experience and honing my craft.
00:04:54 Speaker 1
And the changes that I’m making to the program now are so big that it’s taken me a minute to be willing to make them.
00:05:06 Speaker 1
Do you have anything like that in your own business?
00:05:08 Speaker 1
Something that is so important to you that it almost feels like your baby?
00:05:13 Speaker 1
Maybe it’s a program that you offer, a particular teaching of yours, a lead magnet, a certain sales page.
00:05:22 Speaker 1
You love it and you also know it’s time to shift it in some ways.
00:05:28 Speaker 1
but it also maybe feels kind of sacrilege to do so because of how long it’s been around and how attached you are to it.
00:05:40 Speaker 1
Maybe this thing in your business, it’s done really, really well up until now, but you see some things that need to change and it can feel so difficult to make those changes sometimes, right?
00:05:54 Speaker 1
Well,
00:05:55 Speaker 1
I’ve finally gotten to the other side of the difficult.
00:05:59 Speaker 1
And today I’m going to walk you through the changes and how they relate to my marketing and my bigger business model as well and what you can learn for yourself from all of it.
00:06:11 Speaker 1
So I’m thrilled that you’re here for this.
00:06:14 Speaker 1
is a personal episode for sure and a business one.
00:06:20 Speaker 1
So let’s get into it.
00:06:23 Speaker 1
And I want to start with what’s been leading and inspiring me to make all of the changes that I’m going to be telling you about, because there have been some profound things happening for me personally and also in the world and in the coaching world that have really been leading the way.
00:06:42 Speaker 1
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that a lot has happened in my personal life over the last year and a half.
00:06:50 Speaker 1
It started with my mother dying and her death set off a domino effect of changes in my family of origin.
00:06:59 Speaker 1
I won’t get into all of the details here.
00:07:01 Speaker 1
It’s a lot, but I will share that it’s been some big, painful stuff that I’ve had to have a lot of courage to walk through.
00:07:10 Speaker 1
And on top of that, in this same stretch,
00:07:14 Speaker 1
I turned 50.
00:07:15 Speaker 1
I crossed that threshold.
00:07:17 Speaker 1
I actually just turned 51 a few weeks ago.
00:07:21 Speaker 1
We finally got my older daughter out of the house and off to college.
00:07:27 Speaker 1
I’ve moved more deeply into perimenopause.
00:07:30 Speaker 1
And I also lost someone that I considered a mentor for the last 27 years.
00:07:39 Speaker 1
In short,
00:07:41 Speaker 1
It has been a season of loss and some grief and transformation and letting go and mostly being in the mystery.
00:07:55 Speaker 1
That strange corridor where you’re not in the old anymore, it’s gone and behind you and you can’t get it back even if you want to.
00:08:05 Speaker 1
But you’re also not yet in the new.
00:08:09 Speaker 1
and you’re not even really sure of what the new is.
00:08:14 Speaker 1
The mystery can be a terrifying place to be, and also it can be a beautiful, creative, very alive place to be because anything is possible in the mystery, in the dark.
00:08:33 Speaker 1
But it’s also not so easy to be in the mystery.
00:08:36 Speaker 1
Even if like me, better and that it can’t be rushed and that you need to kind of just let the mystery do its thing through you and on you, do its work on you, still kind of sometimes want to rush through it and just get to the other end and get to the clarity and get to the light.
00:09:00 Speaker 1
I have been in the mystery for 18 months now, and finally, finally, finally I am on the other side of that corridor.
00:09:12 Speaker 1
And I feel like I’m emerging both the same as I’ve always been, but also very, very different.
00:09:20 Speaker 1
And all of it has spurred me to finally make some shifts in sacred depths that I’ve been wanting to make for a long time.
00:09:30 Speaker 1
but I haven’t had the courage, the full clarity, but also the courage to make them.
00:09:39 Speaker 1
And so here’s one of the biggest changes.
00:09:44 Speaker 1
Sacred Depths is now for seasoned practitioners only.
00:09:51 Speaker 1
So my business has always clearly not been for everyone.
00:09:56 Speaker 1
I’ve been very clear about this.
00:09:58 Speaker 1
It’s not for people who don’t want to go deep or who don’t want to profoundly change their clients’ lives.
00:10:05 Speaker 1
It’s not for people looking for quick change overnight because that’s just not a thing in real life.
00:10:12 Speaker 1
It’s not for people who are more motivated by money than by their sacred purpose.
00:10:18 Speaker 1
So of course, money is important and I love making it.
00:10:23 Speaker 1
But even with all of that specificity,
00:10:28 Speaker 1
I’ve still left sacred depths open in terms of experience level of practitioners.
00:10:38 Speaker 1
Now, the truth is that over all these years, about 80% of my students have always been coaches, therapists, and leaders with other trainings and quite a bit of experience under their belts, sometimes decades of experience.
00:10:56 Speaker 1
Sacred Depths has for sure been geared towards seasoned practitioners, but it’s also welcomed brand new practitioners who are smart, ready to go deep, able to keep up with the advanced material.
00:11:10 Speaker 1
And for years, it’s worked very well.
00:11:16 Speaker 1
I’ve believed deeply in mixed rooms, new people learning from experienced practitioners, experienced practitioners learning from new practitioners.
00:11:29 Speaker 1
I’ve seen it work beautifully over and over and over again, and I’m really proud of being able to hold spaces and conversations like that.
00:11:41 Speaker 1
being said, over the last year or so,
00:11:46 Speaker 1
I’ve also noticed something real, that more and more seasoned practitioners are wanting their own space in conversation with other seasoned practitioners and learning from each other’s case studies and particular experiences.
00:12:06 Speaker 1
And in the last year or two, there have been quite a few seasoned practitioners who have been considering sacred depths
00:12:17 Speaker 1
who have asked me for Sacred Depths to become a space for seasoned practitioners only.
00:12:25 Speaker 1
And even though I’m pretty stubborn about my own ideas, I also do know as a teacher and as an entrepreneur that it’s important to listen to your community, to hear out what they have to say.
00:12:42 Speaker 1
And so I’ve really thought about
00:12:44 Speaker 1
this request.
00:12:45 Speaker 1
I’ve thought about it a lot.
00:12:48 Speaker 1
And I finally decided that it’s really valid.
00:12:53 Speaker 1
It’s not that mixed rooms aren’t very valuable and it’s not that beginners don’t have so, so much to contribute to seasoned folks.
00:13:03 Speaker 1
I still believe in that deeply.
00:13:05 Speaker 1
But this is what I’m choosing now.
00:13:12 Speaker 1
And
00:13:13 Speaker 1
It’s a big deal for me to say this out loud.
00:13:17 Speaker 1
I’ve always been pretty specific about my ideal client, but I’ve never been this specific.
00:13:23 Speaker 1
And I wanna be honest with you, it’s a little scary because it’s hard to leave amazing people behind.
00:13:34 Speaker 1
I know that so many of you are feeling this way in your own businesses right now, that fear of getting even more specific
00:13:43 Speaker 1
and then leaving people behind or the worry that if you’re too specific, you’re going to lose a whole pool of prospects.
00:13:51 Speaker 1
I have felt all of that, the fear, the concern, all of it.
00:13:58 Speaker 1
And so I am here modeling the courage for you.
00:14:02 Speaker 1
And by the way,
00:14:05 Speaker 1
It’s not about waiting until the fear goes away, right?
00:14:10 Speaker 1
I teach this inside of Sacred Depths in the Befriend Your Fear module.
00:14:15 Speaker 1
The fear never, it’s not that it goes away.
00:14:19 Speaker 1
It’s about getting regulated with the fear, getting more comfortable with it and moving forward.
00:14:26 Speaker 1
And so Sacred Depths is for seasoned practitioners only.
00:14:34 Speaker 1
Now,
00:14:35 Speaker 1
You might be wondering what I mean by seasoned.
00:14:38 Speaker 1
Let me share, and you might recognize yourself in some of what I’m about to say.
00:14:44 Speaker 1
So here’s my definition of seasoned.
00:14:47 Speaker 1
You’ve been around the block at least once, but probably many more times than once.
00:14:54 Speaker 1
And you’re good at what you do.
00:14:58 Speaker 1
Your clients genuinely like working with you and they get real value from it.
00:15:06 Speaker 1
You have proven results in your work and at least some testimonials.
00:15:12 Speaker 1
You know you’re in your deepest purpose when you’re helping people one-on-one or in groups, when you’re helping them grow, connect to their souls, find courage, move towards what they actually want.
00:15:28 Speaker 1
deep in your bones that you were meant to do the deep transformational work.
00:15:39 Speaker 1
And you probably also consider yourself to be a transformation nerd like I am.
00:15:46 Speaker 1
You are endlessly fascinated, possibly bordering on obsessed with
00:15:54 Speaker 1
your transformation with how human beings change and transform.
00:16:02 Speaker 1
And with all of that, I also want to name some common problems that identify seasoned coaches that I bet a few of you are going to recognize.
00:16:17 Speaker 1
So for seasoned coaches, there are also moments where you’re with a client
00:16:23 Speaker 1
They get stuck or resistant or fully shut down and some part of you just goes quiet inside or starts freaking out because you’re not entirely sure what to do next or because you’re activated or worried that your client is upset or stuck.
00:16:45 Speaker 1
Now, none of this is because you’re not skilled.
00:16:47 Speaker 1
You are skilled, you’re seasoned, but there’s a difference
00:16:53 Speaker 1
between being skilled and being masterful in those exact moments when things get uncomfortable or hard.
00:17:05 Speaker 1
Or maybe for you, there are sessions that feel genuinely powerful, real breakthroughs, real insight, real motivation, but then your client comes back next week to the next session
00:17:20 Speaker 1
And it was like it never happened and you’re not quite sure what to do with them next.
00:17:30 Speaker 1
Or maybe for some of you, there’s a client or some clients that you’ve worked with for a while now and something about the work together has gone a little stale and you can feel it and they can feel it.
00:17:43 Speaker 1
even if neither of you has said anything out loud, but you’re just not sure how to make it really alive again.
00:17:53 Speaker 1
Or maybe clients finish their time with you and they’re happy enough, but they don’t renew or not enough renew.
00:18:06 Speaker 1
Or maybe referrals don’t trickle in, not in the steady way that you know your work should deserve.
00:18:14 Speaker 1
and you’re not sure why that’s happening.
00:18:18 Speaker 1
And here’s one other thing that can often happen for seasoned practitioners.
00:18:23 Speaker 1
This, I don’t know, in some ways this might be the hardest one.
00:18:27 Speaker 1
You’ve done your own work.
00:18:28 Speaker 1
Oh, I know, if you are seasoned, you have done your own inner work, real work, deep work, and it’s gotten you far.
00:18:36 Speaker 1
It’s been so valuable.
00:18:38 Speaker 1
It’s helped you so much.
00:18:40 Speaker 1
But
00:18:42 Speaker 1
you recognize that even with that inner work, there is more deep work to do to get you all the way to where you want to be.
00:18:53 Speaker 1
You’re still not as visible as you’d like to be or not charging what you actually want to be charging.
00:19:02 Speaker 1
Or maybe you’re not saying the courageous thing to a client or in your marketing or holding boundaries.
00:19:11 Speaker 1
Or maybe you don’t yet believe with your full heart and soul that you’re worthy and valuable and phenomenal at what you do, that you have a right to be bigger and take up more space.
00:19:29 Speaker 1
If any of that is landing for you right now, first of all, I want you to know you’re in good company.
00:19:36 Speaker 1
So many incredible seasoned practitioners are experiencing challenges in their work, their client work, their group work, and in their businesses right now.
00:19:48 Speaker 1
Remember I told you at the start of this episode that some of the changes I was making were partly about the signs on the wall in the transformational industry?
00:20:01 Speaker 1
Well, I want to tell you what I mean, because a couple of things have shifted.
00:20:06 Speaker 1
in the last few years.
00:20:08 Speaker 1
So first, people’s fears and resistances are stronger than they used to be.
00:20:17 Speaker 1
We’ve been through so much as a collective over the last five to six years.
00:20:23 Speaker 1
There’s been COVID and then the general state of the world and all of the
00:20:30 Speaker 1
climate pieces and all of the AI pieces and all of the politics and the division.
00:20:37 Speaker 1
There’s so much noise and distraction and technology, all of that.
00:20:42 Speaker 1
And on top of that, and this is important, the first layer of transformation has been so much more accessible for our potential clients.
00:20:57 Speaker 1
What I mean by this is
00:20:59 Speaker 1
As a culture, people have consumed enormous amounts of psychology and wellness and nervous system content.
00:21:09 Speaker 1
And it’s amazing in a lot of ways.
00:21:11 Speaker 1
They’ve learned so much about themselves.
00:21:14 Speaker 1
They’ve been able on their own, or maybe with a past coach or practitioner to chip away at those top layers of transformation.
00:21:26 Speaker 1
With all of the information that they’ve consumed, they have a lot of awareness about themselves.
00:21:37 Speaker 1
But awareness alone, that’s just the top layer that doesn’t create change in the ways that it used to.
00:21:44 Speaker 1
And so because of that, client cases are now more complex.
00:21:52 Speaker 1
It takes more, better skills, different techniques, more inner fortitude to lead people through the deeper change now, through their deeper fears, through the resistances and the overwhelm and the procrastination.
00:22:08 Speaker 1
So for sure, people over the last years have had a lot of breakthroughs.
00:22:13 Speaker 1
They’ve had a lot of ahas.
00:22:15 Speaker 1
They understand their limiting patterns and where those patterns come from.
00:22:20 Speaker 1
It’s all great, but
00:22:22 Speaker 1
they’re still stuck.
00:22:25 Speaker 1
Because, of course, cognitive awareness is not enough to change lifelong patterns.
00:22:31 Speaker 1
And because of all of this, here’s what I’ve really come to believe.
00:22:36 Speaker 1
Our craft
00:22:39 Speaker 1
It has to keep on evolving because the people in front of us, they’ve already evolved.
00:22:46 Speaker 1
Our clients aren’t who they were five years ago.
00:22:49 Speaker 1
Their nervous systems aren’t what they were five years ago.
00:22:54 Speaker 1
And so as practitioners, we can’t stay the same either.
00:22:59 Speaker 1
The coaches and the practitioners who are going to be highly sought out
00:23:07 Speaker 1
Those are the ones who are going to evolve and continue to deepen their skills so that they can meet the people in front of them.
00:23:18 Speaker 1
So that’s the first thing that’s shifted.
00:23:21 Speaker 1
And the second thing is on the business end of things.
00:23:26 Speaker 1
You probably have already noticed that the market has shifted drastically.
00:23:32 Speaker 1
In general, people are less trusting.
00:23:37 Speaker 1
They’ve been burnt by practitioners who weren’t skilled enough or trauma informed.
00:23:44 Speaker 1
They’ve invested money and time and haven’t really created the results that they wanted.
00:23:50 Speaker 1
Plus, the market is saturated with so many choices and tons of influencers who look super shiny.
00:23:58 Speaker 1
Also, in general, the public can always go to ChatGPT for free.
00:24:05 Speaker 1
and get consulting and advice and an entity with endless patience that just listens and listens and listens.
00:24:14 Speaker 1
All of this is to say our future clients need better reason to say yes to working with us.
00:24:25 Speaker 1
And those better reasons come down to those deepened skills that I was just talking about a moment ago.
00:24:32 Speaker 1
Plus,
00:24:34 Speaker 1
we also have to activate what I would call our trust assets.
00:24:42 Speaker 1
So for example, referrals from clients who sing our praises, testimonials from clients who are in awe of the work that we’ve done together, social media shoutouts from clients who are so grateful for us.
00:24:59 Speaker 1
So all of this
00:25:01 Speaker 1
brings me to another big change inside of Sacred Depths.
00:25:08 Speaker 1
A way that I’m organizing and understanding it a little bit differently than before and also why I no longer think of Sacred Depths as a certification.
00:25:22 Speaker 1
And that makes me nervous to say out loud as well, I no longer think of Sacred Depths as a certification.
00:25:30 Speaker 1
New practitioners need certifications.
00:25:35 Speaker 1
These and practitioner, especially these days and in this environment, they need something else and in fact, a very specific something else in order to navigate everything that I’ve been talking about today.
00:25:51 Speaker 1
So let me share with you about the three pillars of sacred depth so that you can understand all of this a little bit more.
00:26:00 Speaker 1
You really need these three pillars that I’m about to explain in order to become an extraordinary practitioner who can really meet people where they’re at.
00:26:15 Speaker 1
One who is going to be able to rise to the top during these very weird times that we’re in and to become an extraordinary practitioner whose reputation precedes you and
00:26:29 Speaker 1
who grows a thriving business.
00:26:33 Speaker 1
So pillar one is advanced transformational skills.
00:26:40 Speaker 1
These are your actual in the room abilities.
00:26:45 Speaker 1
to meet a client wherever they are, including the moments when they get stuck, resistant, activated, or shut down, and to know exactly what to do in those moments.
00:26:58 Speaker 1
Pillar one, your advanced transformational skills are your abilities to navigate clients through procrastination, overwhelm, deep confusion, frustration, anxiousness, self-sabotage,
00:27:14 Speaker 1
the patterns that hold them back from being who they want to become and creating what they want to create.
00:27:22 Speaker 1
Pillar one is also the skills to know how to weave all of the threads from one session to the next.
00:27:32 Speaker 1
so that your client’s entire experience with you is 1 continuous transformational journey.
00:27:39 Speaker 1
Not just feeling good at the end of a session, but not following through, not having the change actually take.
00:27:47 Speaker 1
The transformation skills in pillar one are also about your advanced somatic skills.
00:27:56 Speaker 1
your trauma-informed skills, your ability to create the conditions where emotion and vulnerability can emerge safely for your clients and your groups, your know-how to activate real breakthroughs, your ability to ask the exquisitely worded question in the exact right moment, and
00:28:21 Speaker 1
your understanding of how humans behave, especially in moments of fear, resistance, self-sabotage, and confusion.
00:28:30 Speaker 1
Now, here’s what I want you to know.
00:28:33 Speaker 1
When things get hard with clients and you feel shaky and unsure of how to support them, or when they’re circling round and round, session after session without really moving forward, or just staying on the surface and not able to go deep,
00:28:51 Speaker 1
There are usually two related things happening at once.
00:28:57 Speaker 1
First, it has to do with this pillar, advanced skills.
00:29:01 Speaker 1
Having really masterful, effective techniques.
00:29:06 Speaker 1
Techniques that go deep, that are proven, that aren’t cookie cutter, the same for every client, but instead flexible to meet each client where they actually are.
00:29:19 Speaker 1
But, and this really matters, technique and embodiment are two different things.
00:29:28 Speaker 1
Now, I want to say this again because it’s so important.
00:29:32 Speaker 1
Technique and embodiment are two different things.
00:29:38 Speaker 1
You can know something in your head and still lose access to it the second a client’s fear or resistance
00:29:48 Speaker 1
or overwhelm or confusion or scatter activates you.
00:29:54 Speaker 1
Which is why your advanced transformational skills have limits without your energetics.
00:30:03 Speaker 1
Because knowing what to do and then being able to access it when it matters are two very different things.
00:30:14 Speaker 1
So pillar 2 is your own inner work
00:30:18 Speaker 1
or what I call your energetics.
00:30:22 Speaker 1
And I wanna pause here because this one is huge.
00:30:28 Speaker 1
Your energetics are kind of everything.
00:30:33 Speaker 1
Bar none, I believe your energetics are one of the most important keys to extraordinary work and to an extraordinary business.
00:30:46 Speaker 1
And that’s because your energetics determine how you show up.
00:30:54 Speaker 1
They’re what you bring into every client session, every group, every interaction, every business decision, your beliefs, your energy,
00:31:08 Speaker 1
your biases and attitudes, your relationship to power, your relationship to fear, what happens inside of you when things get hard or sticky or uncomfortable with a client, how much uncertainty you can tolerate, what your capacity is, how deeply you can hold a container, how much truth you’re willing to say,
00:31:35 Speaker 1
how much of yourself you’re willing to bring.
00:31:39 Speaker 1
And all of this gets incredibly specific.
00:31:43 Speaker 1
For example, do you feel intimidated by your clients?
00:31:48 Speaker 1
Do you feel better than them, worse than them?
00:31:53 Speaker 1
Are you unconsciously trying to rescue your clients?
00:31:57 Speaker 1
Are you afraid of disappointing them?
00:32:00 Speaker 1
Are you bringing your own family projections into your client containers or into your marketing?
00:32:07 Speaker 1
Do you recognize when a client is bringing their family projections onto you?
00:32:12 Speaker 1
Do you know what to do when this happens?
00:32:16 Speaker 1
How steady are you in your own body when things become uncertain?
00:32:23 Speaker 1
What beliefs are you carrying about your client and their ability to actually change?
00:32:28 Speaker 1
And what beliefs are you carrying about yourself and your own ability to facilitate that change?
00:32:38 Speaker 1
Because here’s the thing.
00:32:41 Speaker 1
Your skill, that pillar one, can only take you as far as your energetics will allow.
00:32:52 Speaker 1
You might know exactly what intervention would be appropriate in any given session or group session.
00:32:59 Speaker 1
But if you’re afraid of how your client is going to react, can you actually use the intervention, the technique, the skill?
00:33:09 Speaker 1
You might know that a client needs to hear a hard truth.
00:33:13 Speaker 1
But if some part of you is terrified that they’ll get angry or leave or think you’re a bad practitioner
00:33:21 Speaker 1
or get really upset by it, then can you actually say the hard truth?
00:33:29 Speaker 1
You might know how to hold a powerful container, but if your own nervous system is screaming, this isn’t safe, this isn’t safe, the minute that things get messy, can you hold that powerful container?
00:33:42 Speaker 1
That’s why I don’t see your inner work, your energetic,
00:33:48 Speaker 1
as something separate from your client work.
00:33:53 Speaker 1
You are part of your techniques.
00:33:58 Speaker 1
Your capacity is part of the container.
00:34:02 Speaker 1
Your nervous system is part of the session and the room.
00:34:08 Speaker 1
Your unresolved patterns, they can become part of the work.
00:34:14 Speaker 1
And your ability to see, understand, and work with all of that in yourself is part of what allows you to see, understand, and work with it in someone else.
00:34:27 Speaker 1
And this is true in your business as well.
00:34:32 Speaker 1
How bold are you actually willing to be with your own visibility?
00:34:38 Speaker 1
What happens when you need to raise your rates?
00:34:41 Speaker 1
When you need to say the thing in your marketing that scares you a little bit?
00:34:46 Speaker 1
When you need to take up more space than feels comfortable?
00:34:51 Speaker 1
When you need to ask someone to invest in your work?
00:34:55 Speaker 1
Your relationship with fear, visibility, money, power, worthiness, and your own nervous system
00:35:07 Speaker 1
doesn’t magically disappear when you leave the client session.
00:35:12 Speaker 1
Your energetics follow you everywhere.
00:35:16 Speaker 1
And this is why I think energetics are so often misunderstood.
00:35:22 Speaker 1
People sometimes think inner work is the nice personal development part of the training, something
00:35:29 Speaker 1
and you maybe do at some point.
00:35:32 Speaker 1
I see it so completely differently.
00:35:34 Speaker 1
I see it as part and parcel of your professional mastery.
00:35:41 Speaker 1
Because the more capacity you develop within yourself, the more capacity you have available to another person and to your marketing.
00:35:51 Speaker 1
The more you can stay grounded when things get uncertain, the more deeply you can go.
00:35:58 Speaker 1
The more you can tolerate discomfort, the less likely you are to rush in and rescue.
00:36:05 Speaker 1
The more you can recognize your own projections and patterns, the less likely you are to unconsciously make the client work about you.
00:36:16 Speaker 1
And the more freedom you have around visibility, fear, money, being seen,
00:36:24 Speaker 1
the more fully you can build a business that actually reflects the quality of your work.
00:36:30 Speaker 1
This is one of those places where Sacred Depths is so different from any other practitioner training out there.
00:36:39 Speaker 1
We don’t treat energetics as an optional add-on.
00:36:44 Speaker 1
We go deep.
00:36:46 Speaker 1
Not first surface, first layer or second layer, but go deep.
00:36:54 Speaker 1
because I don’t just want to teach you what to do.
00:37:00 Speaker 1
I want to help you become the kind of practitioner who can access what you know, hold what needs to be held, and stay present with what’s actually happening, especially when things get hard.
00:37:12 Speaker 1
That to me is mastery.
00:37:15 Speaker 1
Which leads us to pillar 3.
00:37:20 Speaker 1
Pillar 3 is ethical
00:37:24 Speaker 1
and authentic business and marketing practices.
00:37:29 Speaker 1
This is about how you build a business around extraordinary work, how you price your work, how you talk about it and market it, the actual mechanics of the marketing, how you create referrals and renewals, how you have sales conversations, how you become visible.
00:37:50 Speaker 1
and how you do all of that in a way that feels true to who you are.
00:37:56 Speaker 1
Not by borrowing somebody else’s strategy or turning yourself into a version of a successful coach that you think you’re supposed to be.
00:38:06 Speaker 1
But here’s what I really want you to understand about this third pillar.
00:38:10 Speaker 1
If business and marketing feel like your weakest area
00:38:15 Speaker 1
it may not actually be because you need more business knowledge.
00:38:22 Speaker 1
Because I know you’ve taken the courses.
00:38:24 Speaker 1
We’ve all taken the business courses.
00:38:26 Speaker 1
You know the strategies.
00:38:28 Speaker 1
You know you’re supposed to be visible.
00:38:30 Speaker 1
You know you’re supposed to ask for the sale.
00:38:33 Speaker 1
You know you should probably raise your rates.
00:38:36 Speaker 1
You know referrals matter.
00:38:38 Speaker 1
And yet, you’re still hesitating.
00:38:44 Speaker 1
or maybe undercharging or not talking about your work as effectively or boldly as you could, maybe you’re still holding back from being seen.
00:38:59 Speaker 1
And sometimes that’s because pillar one or pillar two just haven’t caught up yet.
00:39:04 Speaker 1
Because if you don’t yet have the skill to consistently co-create extraordinary results,
00:39:12 Speaker 1
It’s hard to feel completely confident asking people to invest deeply in your work.
00:39:19 Speaker 1
And if you’re afraid of being seen, afraid of disappointing people, uncomfortable with money or visibility, uncertain about your own worth, then it’s hard to market yourself boldly, even if you know exactly what the marketing strategy is.
00:39:35 Speaker 1
So this is why I don’t see business and marketing as something that gets tacked on to the end of a practitioner development.
00:39:42 Speaker 1
Your business is another place where your mastery gets expressed.
00:39:49 Speaker 1
And so this is where the three pillars start to become really interesting.
00:39:54 Speaker 1
Your skill affects your confidence.
00:39:59 Speaker 1
Your confidence affects how boldly you’re willing to show up.
00:40:04 Speaker 1
Your energetics affect what you’re willing to risk, say, ask for, and be seen doing.
00:40:11 Speaker 1
and that affects your business.
00:40:15 Speaker 1
Then what happens in your business, the results you create, the referrals you receive, the clients who renew, the way people talk about your work, all of that feeds right back into your confidence and your development as a practitioner.
00:40:30 Speaker 1
It’s not a straight line.
00:40:32 Speaker 1
It’s a loop goes from skill to confidence to boldness to business to results back into skill and confidence around and around and around.
00:40:43 Speaker 1
And that’s the through line I want you to remember from all three pillars.
00:40:50 Speaker 1
You need your advanced transformational skills, your energetics, and your business practices to be moving
00:40:59 Speaker 1
and working together.
00:41:03 Speaker 1
They’re all expressions of the same thing, who you are as a practitioner, the quality of the transformation you can co-create, and your capacity to build a business that can sustainably support that work.
00:41:19 Speaker 1
That’s what I mean when I talk about becoming extraordinary.
00:41:25 Speaker 1
Now I’ll give you a
00:41:27 Speaker 1
real life example of this because I’ve watched this play out over and over again.
00:41:34 Speaker 1
So Katie went through Sacred Depths a couple of years ago and when she started, she had already been a psychotherapist for decades and also had been a coach.
00:41:46 Speaker 1
And she was a really, really good practitioner.
00:41:51 Speaker 1
but she was also missing something.
00:41:53 Speaker 1
That last 5 or 10%, that makes a huge difference in the experience of the client.
00:42:02 Speaker 1
Her clients were satisfied, but they weren’t raving.
00:42:06 Speaker 1
And because she wasn’t completely confident in the results that she was creating, Katie undercharged and over gave and she ran over time in her sessions and she added extra sessions and answered
00:42:20 Speaker 1
emails way beyond what she’d contracted for.
00:42:24 Speaker 1
And eventually all of that created resentment inside of her.
00:42:28 Speaker 1
Katie’s clients weren’t referring at the level she wanted, and that just deepened the resentment and gave her one more reason to keep her rates low and to market halfheartedly.
00:42:41 Speaker 1
So you can see the loop between these three pillars going in one direction.
00:42:47 Speaker 1
Once she started Sacred Depths,
00:42:50 Speaker 1
It started running in the other direction.
00:42:54 Speaker 1
Katie deepened her skills and became more extraordinary at the work, and so her clients started raving about her.
00:43:02 Speaker 1
That gave her the confidence to do the deeper energetics work, to befriend her fears around visibility and rejection, and finally address the over-giving that had been eating away at her boundaries.
00:43:17 Speaker 1
And with all of that confidence and capacity, then she was able to show up differently in her business.
00:43:25 Speaker 1
She tightened her marketing, created a real outreach plan, and ran a preview workshop.
00:43:34 Speaker 1
And the end result is that she nearly doubled her rates and she brought in five new clients during sacred depths with more coming on the way.
00:43:45 Speaker 1
So
00:43:46 Speaker 1
That’s the way the three pillars work together.
00:43:50 Speaker 1
And all of this is why I no longer think of Sacred Depths as a certification.
00:44:00 Speaker 1
Because you don’t need another certification.
00:44:04 Speaker 1
Though, of course, we all love them.
00:44:07 Speaker 1
But I think of Sacred Depths as a transformational journey for already great practitioners
00:44:15 Speaker 1
who want to become extraordinary, more steady in their sessions and groups, able to build a sustainable business.
00:44:24 Speaker 1
It includes all three pillars, advanced training and transformational techniques, deep inner work to expand your energetics, and ethical, authentic marketing all interwoven because you can’t separate the three.
00:44:43 Speaker 1
Sacred Depths is also not more general information.
00:44:49 Speaker 1
Each of the pillars inside of Sacred Depths because they are specifically for seasoned practitioners and entrepreneurs who already have a ton of general information.
00:45:01 Speaker 1
So the pillars have specialty curriculum and experiences and support.
00:45:09 Speaker 1
General information can only get you so far.
00:45:12 Speaker 1
It can get you started for sure, but then you need something different when you are on the seasoned part of your journey.
00:45:21 Speaker 1
You need nuances, advanced details of techniques, specifics of marketing copies.
00:45:29 Speaker 1
That’s where the magic is for you.
00:45:32 Speaker 1
So let’s
00:45:35 Speaker 1
relate all of this to your own programming.
00:45:40 Speaker 1
How much of your programming is general versus tailored details, specifics, and nuances?
00:45:51 Speaker 1
How much of your work with clients and groups allows for deep integration and embodiment of what they might already cognitively know but haven’t been able to masterfully put into place?
00:46:06 Speaker 1
And it’s also good to identify what are the three or four pillars of your own work, whether it’s private work or group work, and how do those pillars work together and get integrated?
00:46:27 Speaker 1
These are vital questions to really consider so that you can both make your work more transformational
00:46:34 Speaker 1
as well as more appealing to the amazing folks who are meant to experience it.
00:46:40 Speaker 1
Okay, I know this episode is already really long, but there are a few other things I want to tell you that I think you can really learn from.
00:46:49 Speaker 1
So I’m going to keep on going and I want to share with you another really important change to Sacred Depths.
00:46:56 Speaker 1
It’s more compact than it was before.
00:47:00 Speaker 1
And here’s why.
00:47:02 Speaker 1
And this has to do with where people are at right now.
00:47:10 Speaker 1
It has to do with marketing and bandwidth and capacity.
00:47:15 Speaker 1
We are for sure in an era where people have less attention.
00:47:24 Speaker 1
They have less capacity.
00:47:28 Speaker 1
They’re more distracted.
00:47:31 Speaker 1
They may have less time.
00:47:33 Speaker 1
And while we don’t want to shortchange our offerings, we do need to take that into consideration as we craft our offerings.
00:47:47 Speaker 1
So in the olden days, I’m putting olden in quotes, like for so many years when I’ve been working, the idea was put more into the program, more bonuses.
00:47:59 Speaker 1
More modules, more content.
00:48:03 Speaker 1
The more that was in there, the old school marketers would call it stacking the cool.
00:48:11 Speaker 1
The more that was in there, the more attractive it was to ideal clients.
00:48:18 Speaker 1
But more isn’t automatically more valuable anymore.
00:48:26 Speaker 1
People used to want more, but now most of the time they want less.
00:48:33 Speaker 1
They want a straighter line to results.
00:48:37 Speaker 1
And by the way, when I say this, I want to be clear.
00:48:39 Speaker 1
I don’t believe in results overnight or a straight line to results.
00:48:43 Speaker 1
It’s circular.
00:48:45 Speaker 1
It’s cyclical, not linear.
00:48:47 Speaker 1
But
00:48:49 Speaker 1
We do need to really look at like, what’s the filler that we’re putting in and let’s take it out of our offerings.
00:48:57 Speaker 1
So I went through every module inside of Sacred Depths and I asked myself one question over and over and over again for each module.
00:49:09 Speaker 1
Does this directly contribute to the transformation that we’re here for?
00:49:18 Speaker 1
And
00:49:19 Speaker 1
if the content didn’t earn its place, it didn’t get to stay simply because I love it and because it had always been there.
00:49:29 Speaker 1
I took it out.
00:49:29 Speaker 1
And so I want to invite you to do the same with your own programming.
00:49:34 Speaker 1
Okay, there’s still one big change inside of Sacred Depths.
00:49:41 Speaker 1
Maybe the biggest.
00:49:42 Speaker 1
But before I share it, I want to review some of the pieces we’ve looked at already, because these are things that you can maybe apply to some of your own programming.
00:49:56 Speaker 1
So here’s what’s different in sacred depths and why.
00:50:00 Speaker 1
Number one, experienced practitioners only.
00:50:04 Speaker 1
because I want the conversation to start further down the road because I’ve really listened to what my community is asking for.
00:50:15 Speaker 1
The general content is gone.
00:50:17 Speaker 1
The basics are gone because you don’t need me to teach you things that you’ve already learned.
00:50:23 Speaker 1
We dive straight into the advanced and nuanced skills and techniques that you need in order to be extraordinary.
00:50:32 Speaker 1
It’s more intimate.
00:50:34 Speaker 1
And that’s because for seasoned practitioners, in order to get to where you want to go, to being extraordinary, to mastery, that requires being seen by me and by each other.
00:50:51 Speaker 1
There’s even more deep inner work inside of sacred depth.
00:50:55 Speaker 1
There was already so much, and now there’s more and more by way of energetics.
00:51:00 Speaker 1
because your capacity to hold others is inseparable from your capacity to hold yourself or your business.
00:51:09 Speaker 1
Sacred Depths now has more marketing integration because who you are as a practitioner and an entrepreneur, they go together.
00:51:23 Speaker 1
And Sacred Depths is more compact and it requires less time and energy.
00:51:30 Speaker 1
Because more content shouldn’t be the goal.
00:51:33 Speaker 1
Transformation is the goal.
00:51:36 Speaker 1
And here’s what hasn’t changed.
00:51:40 Speaker 1
You still become exceptional.
00:51:42 Speaker 1
You still transform, really transform, not just learn about transformation.
00:51:48 Speaker 1
You still hold deeper space, have more gravitas in every room that you’re in.
00:51:55 Speaker 1
You still, by the end of it, really by the middle of sacred depths, get told by clients over and over that you helped change their life.
00:52:06 Speaker 1
You still activate more confidence and boldness in yourself along the way.
00:52:12 Speaker 1
And you still become more poised for referrals and renewals and incredible reputation.
00:52:23 Speaker 1
So this brings us
00:52:26 Speaker 1
to the last significant change that I’m making, it is big.
00:52:34 Speaker 1
This is actually the biggest decision.
00:52:39 Speaker 1
I’ll call it like the biggest business decision that I’ve made in easily a decade.
00:52:45 Speaker 1
It’s pretty monumental.
00:52:47 Speaker 1
So in short,
00:52:52 Speaker 1
Sacred Depths is no longer going to be cohort based.
00:52:59 Speaker 1
It is going to run on rolling admission.
00:53:04 Speaker 1
And I want to talk about this because you might resonate with it.
00:53:12 Speaker 1
I’ve spent 25 years in business with launches and
00:53:22 Speaker 1
I like launches.
00:53:23 Speaker 1
I have liked launches.
00:53:25 Speaker 1
And they’ve worked really, really well.
00:53:29 Speaker 1
So launches aren’t the issue.
00:53:34 Speaker 1
The issue is me.
00:53:37 Speaker 1
As I’ve been getting a little older, launching the constant launching, it’s starting to take something out of me a little bit.
00:53:49 Speaker 1
the ramp up, the intensity, the asking, especially because it’s the asking on a timeline.
00:53:57 Speaker 1
A timeline that I set rather than one that fits where you actually are.
00:54:05 Speaker 1
And I am really interested in doing it in a different way, in not having
00:54:16 Speaker 1
the pressure of these big launches.
00:54:19 Speaker 1
They’re exciting for sure.
00:54:21 Speaker 1
There’s lots of energy in them.
00:54:23 Speaker 1
But I want to try it a different way.
00:54:26 Speaker 1
And also, there are people that come to us year round who want to step into Sacred Depths.
00:54:34 Speaker 1
And it’s been really tricky to do that.
00:54:37 Speaker 1
And I’ll tell you, for about a decade now, I have been wanting to
00:54:46 Speaker 1
make sacred depth rolling admission versus cohort based for all of the reasons that we’ve been talking about.
00:54:54 Speaker 1
But I haven’t seen how to do it in a way that retains the value and the transformation of the experience until
00:55:11 Speaker 1
I decided to make the program for seasoned practitioners only.
00:55:17 Speaker 1
Because when the program was geared towards seasoned, but we also had brand new practitioners, those brand new practitioners, they needed to start in a certain way.
00:55:32 Speaker 1
They needed to go step by step in a very, very, very particular order through foundational skills.
00:55:40 Speaker 1
If I do something, I am going to do it right.
00:55:43 Speaker 1
I am going to do it in epic ways with like tons of value and results.
00:55:48 Speaker 1
And for those new people, it had to be cohort based.
00:55:54 Speaker 1
But now for seasoned practitioners, you don’t need that in that way.
00:56:02 Speaker 1
And so it’s kind of freed the program up to become rolling admission.
00:56:09 Speaker 1
So I’m so excited about this.
00:56:11 Speaker 1
And this impacts, it impacts the program.
00:56:16 Speaker 1
Like I said, it impacts how I market and my energy.
00:56:21 Speaker 1
It also impacts my bigger business model because for those of you that know about Advanced Depth, Advanced is my very, very, very advanced training.
00:56:36 Speaker 1
It’s all about shadow work.
00:56:39 Speaker 1
And it fills mainly from Sacred Depths graduates, though every now and again, some new people who haven’t gone through Sacred Depths but who are advanced enough, I let them in.
00:56:54 Speaker 1
Anyway, that means advanced is gonna become ruling admission as well.
00:56:59 Speaker 1
So it’s really like a lot is changing.
00:57:02 Speaker 1
Somewhere in the last year and a half,
00:57:07 Speaker 1
somewhere inside of that mystery corridor that I told you about earlier, I kind of just stopped being willing to accept that launches all the time were the only way.
00:57:21 Speaker 1
And so I’m really excited to move sacred depths to rolling admission, to have a different kind of marketing strategy.
00:57:34 Speaker 1
I still will do launches.
00:57:36 Speaker 1
every now and again as well.
00:57:40 Speaker 1
So here’s the part that I really want you to take from this, whether or not you ever join Sacred Depths.
00:57:47 Speaker 1
Just because a model has worked and has worked for a really long time and has worked really well, just because it’s still working doesn’t mean that you have to keep on doing it forever.
00:58:05 Speaker 1
Sometimes the next evolution isn’t about doing more or marketing harder.
00:58:13 Speaker 1
Sometimes it’s about acknowledging what’s working, but also listening to what you’re ready for and then having the courage to make the changes from there.
00:58:27 Speaker 1
So I want to end today by
00:58:33 Speaker 1
sharing what I mean when I say extraordinary, because at the heart of all of this, it’s about being extraordinary.
00:58:41 Speaker 1
And if you’re in this community, if you’re my kind of person, if you’ve listened this far to this very long episode, I know you value extraordinary as much as I do.
00:58:54 Speaker 1
So what does it actually mean?
00:58:58 Speaker 1
It means you trust yourself in the moments that matter the most.
00:59:03 Speaker 1
It means your clients don’t just like working with you, but they become lifelong fans.
00:59:12 Speaker 1
The kinds who tell people unprompted about you and your work because they can’t quite believe all that happened in your work together.
00:59:22 Speaker 1
It just blows them.
00:59:25 Speaker 1
It means that you charge what you’re worth without apology because you know
00:59:32 Speaker 1
that you deliver.
00:59:34 Speaker 1
It means that you market yourself boldly and honestly without it feeling like a performance or a betrayal of who you are.
00:59:45 Speaker 1
It means your business finally reflects the depth of what you actually offer.
00:59:52 Speaker 1
And
00:59:53 Speaker 1
It means all of that, your skill, your inner capacity, your business, have stopped being three separate projects that you’re managing and started being one thing.
01:00:06 Speaker 1
Moving is one thing, maturing together.
01:00:11 Speaker 1
That’s the whole point of everything that I walked you through today.
01:00:15 Speaker 1
And so I am so excited about this next evolution of Sacred Depths
01:00:20 Speaker 1
Sacred Depth is and has always been the home for coaches and practitioners of depth who want to be known as the one that their clients and students see as helping them change their lives.
01:00:36 Speaker 1
And if you’ve been listening to this episode and thinking, yes, this is the level of conversation, of experience, of mastery that I’ve been looking for, then let’s talk
01:00:51 Speaker 1
My team and I are doing calls to help you figure out if Sacred Depths is the right fit and if this is the right time for you.
01:01:02 Speaker 1
And to kind of kick off all of the changes in the program that are starting in October for just a short period of time, there is a very, very special rate on Sacred Depths.
01:01:19 Speaker 1
kind of like my yay to kick off all of the changes.
01:01:22 Speaker 1
Before I let you go, my friend, I want to leave you with this.
01:01:29 Speaker 1
Hopefully you have taken in a lot of practical business lessons through everything I walked you through today.
01:01:38 Speaker 1
But if nothing else, I want you to take this.
01:01:46 Speaker 1
You are allowed to evolve.
01:01:50 Speaker 1
You’re allowed to evolve your model.
01:01:54 Speaker 1
You are allowed to evolve your offerings.
01:01:58 Speaker 1
You’re allowed to evolve your teachings.
01:02:02 Speaker 1
And sometimes the thing that maybe feels almost sacrilegious to change is the thing that is ready to change.
01:02:16 Speaker 1
So thank you, thank you for being here with me today.
01:02:20 Speaker 1
As always, I’m so grateful for you.
01:02:24 Speaker 1
I do what I do for you.
01:02:28 Speaker 1
And if you love this episode, please give us a five star rating.
01:02:35 Speaker 1
Please share it with a friend that might find it really valuable.
01:02:38 Speaker 1
And I’ll see you next time.
